The Permanent Mission, which was established in 2001, promotes Tuvalu’s interests at the UN, and the Permanent Representative is currently accredited to the UN, the US, and Cuba. Among other things, the Mission works to strengthen friendships and partnerships with UN member states, support Tuvalu’s foreign policy, promote Tuvalu’s development aspirations, advocate against climate change, promote the Tuvalu Trust Fund, and find employment opportunities. The Mission works intensively with bilateral partners and multilateral groupings at the UN while also managing bilateral affairs with the US and Cuba and looking after the welfare of Tuvaluan scholarship students in Cuba.
