The Embassy was established in 2013 and represents and promotes Tuvalu’s interests in Taiwan and multilateral organizations in Asia. It is recognized that Taiwan is an important development partner for Tuvalu, and one of Tuvalu’s most long-term allies. The Embassy offers services to Tuvaluan citizens and other persons traveling to or volunteering in Tuvalu; collaborates on projects to enhance relations between Tuvalu and Taiwan; supports Tuvaluan scholarship students in Taiwan; and proposes programs, especially in the technical, education, and health sectors, that can improve quality of life in Tuvalu. The Embassy has participated in tourism and trade expos, cultural events, and collaboration with companies to increase business opportunities with Taiwan and foster understanding between the two countries. These efforts have led to cooperation with local travel agents and the Taiwan Government on tourism development and interest from Taiwanese businesses in importing seafood.
