The Suva High Commission was established as the Tuvalu Agency Office in 1976. It promotes Tuvalu’s interests in Fiji and the Pacific region, and the High Commissioner is currently accredited to Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa. The work of the High Commission focuses on promoting bilateral and regional engagements in Fiji and the Pacific, especially through intensive work with the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), the Forum Officials Committee (FOC), FOC sub-committees, the Pacific Community (SPC), and other CROP agencies. The High Commission also provides support services, including protocol for Tuvaluan VIPs traveling through Fiji; consular services, such as assistance with visa, passport, and citizenship issues; training and counselling services for Tuvaluan students in Fiji; assistance with Tuvalu’s medical scheme; and paralegal services.
